HDPE is a thermoplastic polyolefin produced by ethylenecopolymerization. Although HDPE was introduced in 1956, the plastichas not yet reached a mature level. This general purpose materialis also constantly developing its new uses and markets. The mostcommon method of PE production is slurry or vapor processing, but afew are produced by solution processing. All these processes areexothermic reactions involving ethylene monomers, a-olefin monomersand catalyst systems, which may involve more than one compound andvarious types of hydrocarbon diluents. Hydrogen and some catalystsare used to control molecular weight. HDPE was synthesized frompolyethylene with Ziegler catalyst in 120 solvent oil. The productwas alcoholyzed, washed, neutralized and dried. Productperformance: tasteless, odorless, non-toxic white powder, candissolve with paraffin under heating conditions. Low branchingdegree, high density, high rigidity and toughness, good mechanicalproperties, use temperature up to 80 C, and high temperature andoil resistance, vapor permeability and environmental stresscracking, but also resistant to dilute acid, alkali, goodelectrical properties. Easy to process, it can be processed byinjection, blow and extrusion
